Overview

Alunan Rasa by Irama Dining is a halal restaurant nestled in the bustling Setia Triangle, Bayan Lepas, Pulau Pinang. This dining spot, a fresh face on the scene since July 2025, offers a unique local culinary experience inspired by its sister establishments under the Irama Dining Group umbrella, including Lagenda Cafe and Irama Dining itself. Although it shares some similarities in the menu, Alunan Rasa carves its own niche, presenting traditional Malaysian dishes with a subtle twist, perfect for those craving authentic flavors without the tourist crowds.

The main dishes here feature a delightful array of local favorites such as tender kambing perap, flavorful nasi lambing bakar, and soft, smoky itik salai that highlights the region's rich culinary heritage. The mantao with clam buttermilk is a standout, garnering praise even from international palates. Spices and seasoning reflect a boldness that may be intense for some, but overall, the offerings strike a pleasing balance between heat and savory depth.

Located at R-01-32, Setia Triangle shoplot, the venue boasts a distinctive interior inspired by Luffa’s signature style — earthy browns and greens that evoke a soothing, nature-inspired ambiance. The high ceilings create a spacious feel, though they somewhat limit the cooling efficiency of the air conditioning, an important consideration given Malaysia's tropical climate. Seating arrangements provide comfort, though patrons should be cautious as some have noted slippery flooring. A prayer room with ablution facilities is thoughtfully available, catering well to the Muslim clientele and enhancing the inclusive dining experience.

Alunan Rasa’s atmosphere successfully blends casual comfort with refined touches. It targets local families, professionals, and groups who appreciate halal-certified, quality local cuisine in a clean, welcoming setting. The restaurant serves as a convenient alternative to more crowded venues, especially for those working or residing in the Bayan Lepas area or traveling from Batu Kawan.

Service here is consistently friendly and attentive, reinforcing a warm dining experience that invites repeat visits. Parking can present challenges during peak hours due to limited spaces and a one-way traffic flow for on-site parking; however, nearby street parking serves as an alternative. Though prices are above typical street fare, the quality and portion sizes justify the cost, making it a reasonable choice for a satisfying meal.

In conclusion, Alunan Rasa by Irama Dining is a commendable addition to Penang’s rich food landscape. It offers authentic Malay flavors wrapped in a modern, nature-inspired setting that appeals to both locals and visitors seeking halal dining options. Whether for casual lunches, group gatherings, or special meals, this restaurant promises a vibrant taste of Malaysia's culinary heritage with a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.

For those who wish to enjoy food at Lagenda Cafe and Irama Dining but so not wanted to stuck in the jam packed with all tourists, fear not, Alunan Rasa is here. Soft launched on 9 July 2025, this establishment was previously owned by Big Tas'tea cafe before shut down. The establishment brings out all the delicious local food to try on but with similar menu that do not fully copy from Lagenda Cafe and Irama Dining. Some food are a bit salty and spicy to certain people, but overall it is good with lovely food decor. The establishment interior decor claim to be following Luffa's signature style brown and green colour that brings out nature vibe. Unfortunately, due to high ceiling, the air conditioner unable to provide cool temperature from equator climate. The establishment is under Irama dining group (IDG) that operates Lagenda Cafe, Irama Dining, Sutera Restaurant, The Tamarra and Luffa. The establishment is a halal restaurant, thus they do not serve pork and alcohol. Service is good and very friendly with the customer. Price however is not cheap compared to street food but with the quality of the food, it is reasonable. Carpark is limited at certain hours.

We frequent our group lunch here. This particular time, we bring our senior manager and senior technical specialist who came over from Germany. We love the food particularly the mantao with clam buttermilk. Even our manager loved it! The kambing perap comes with 4 slices, so worth the price. Maybe they can improve on the serving of nasi goreng on normal plate instead of placing it on a bowl. The peknga is also delicious especially when you dip it on the sambal. The itik salai, it’s soft and you can taste the salai aroma

Definitely another good restaurant branch for those who enjoyed Irama dining food. Just that the floor is quite slippery. Atmosphere and seating also comfortable. Maybe can highlight what are the chef recommendations menu for those first timers. Ample of parking as well (with fee).

Ya Allah sedap gila makanan kat sini…love the food, the atmosphere, the service. Just the music a bit loud. The rest are great. I’ve ordered their nasi lambing bakar. They served with air asam, kuah hari, salad, and well marinated lamb which is super tasty and juicy. The combination of the condiments just perfect. I will come again and again to try other menu. Please come and try. Highly recommended. I’m a happy customer here

Another Irama Dining restaurant that did not disappoint. I am glad that they have this one opened in Bayan Lepas, which is nearer to Batu Kawan. Ordered beef, it was tender & juicy, well seasoned and cooked despite in cube shape. Others also tasted good and up to my likings. I do not have to describe the ambience, all Irama Dining restaurants are nicely furnished and decorated. Oh, and they have a prayer room for Muslim, unisex and can only cater 1 person at a time but is equipped with the ablution area. This is convenient to dine in for early dinner. I parked my car by the roadside, because my maps screwed up. Please take note that there is a one way street for the carpark, you can enter near the traffic light. If you opted the route with small roundabout, you would missed the chance to park your car nearer with a peace of mind. The roadside parking seemed fine but I am not sure during the weekdays or rush hour. I went there on Sunday, around 6pm.

Just had the best lunch at Alunan Rasa (Setia Triangle) and I’m already thinking about what to try next. Food was so worth it and affordable! The Sup Ayam Kampung with Crispy Bengali Bread (RM9.90) rich, soul-soothing, and perfect for rainy weather. Also loved the Nasi Kacang Ayam Bawang (RM11.90)—full roasted chicken leg, sambal with a kick, and pickled veg. So worth it. And dessert? Don’t skip the Bubur Som Som (RM6.90)—chilled coconut pudding with smoky Gula Melaka syrup. Sweet, salty, creamy, just like Irama Dining. No photo. I ate that one fast! Had a hot latte (RM9.90) too—smooth and strong with that golden crema that tells you that Alunan Rasa take their coffee seriously. Had that with their Victoria Sponge Cake. Super soft, jammy, and piled with cream. Old-school and just right. The café itself is beautiful. KL vibes, calm, airy, jazzy playlist. Staff were friendly, kind and helpful. It didn’t feel crowded or noisy. If you’re anywhere near Bayan Lepas or Bayan Baru, this is your new go-to. Honest prices, great food, and a space you’ll actually want to hang out in. You need to try this new Malaysian cafe!

Nice ambience to dine in but it'll be a bit loud when they're crowded. Came for lunch at 12.30 on a Friday & the place is full house. It took very long for the food to be served but I can understand. They also apologise for the long wait. They portray a good attitude so it's acceptable but i also wish they can improve on the waiting time. Some customers might get offended by this. Price is very reasonable. Food tastes quite good. Aromatic & fragrant, but the satay is slightly dry.
